I will start with where I am standing now

These are some self pictures I took tonight.

There are many sides to each of us. Sides that show our humor, sides that show our heart, sides that show the things that cause weakness, sides that show our strengths. What sides are we showing? Are we putting our best sides forward? Are people seeing the true us by the sides we are showing, or a false persona.

I have been thinking a lot about this lately. I work at a public high school and my office is next door to the vice principal over discipline. Are these kids really what they appear to be? Are the people who tried to steal my car really bad people or is there more to their story?

What am I showing to the rest of the world? What kind of a person do people think I am? Is the person that I truly am the same person that my friends and family know? I really wonder how well people really know the person that is behind American Girl.

I like that we don't have to limit ourselves to being the same all the time. Around one person, we allow certain parts of our personality to come out, and completely different parts around another person. It can make me feel a little crazy sometimes, like I'm living a double life, but I can't imagine things any other way. I think we are often more complex than we allow ourselves to be. Thanks for the reminder. (I love the photos!) :)
