Correspondence

This picture was taken by Bryan F. Peterson.

Yesterday evening I received a letter from a close friend. With the advances of technology and the easy access of e-mail taking the time to sit down and write a letter has not been something I have been very good at for the past few years.

The last time I would get excited about checking the mail was probably about five years ago when I was living in Indiana. Every day the arrival of the mailman was the highlight of the day. Waiting to see if there was a letter from home sharing news and happenings of my loved ones.

These past few weeks I have been reminded how much joy a letter sent through the post office can be. Something that someone has taken the time to sit down and handwrite while sharing a part of themselves with you is priceless. Not only do I look forward to the arrival of these letters I enjoy the time spent writing the letters in response.

Now that is one massive mailbox. That girl, who does not look small, can fit in there.

What is funny about that is that I have a picture of myself in a mailbox that size. I am going to have to scan it and let you see ... way too funny!

Is that a Utah thing? I have never seen a mailbox of that size.

Actually I had that picture taken in Indiana. Most of the mailboxes here wouldn't be big enough to hold a package let alone a person!

That's about the size of my mailbox. When we moved to Utah my parents were getting an extraordinary amount of packages and the mailman used to leave us nasty notes that we needed a bigger mailbox because he was too lazy to run up a flight of stairs to our front door. I've never liked that mailman.
