The Happiest Place on Earth

This is a picture taken by Fred Prouser on May 4, 2005 on Main Street of Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

Growing up Disney represented everything that was happy and good in life. I used to spend hours watching Disney movies from Cinderella to Mary Poppins to The Gnome Mobile and I would escape from reality as I pretended to be the characters in these movies. It really was the Happiest Place on Earth for me.

As I grew older new films came out like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. I loved going to Disneyland and watching the fireworks shows and riding the rides. My first rollercoaster ride was there on Space Mountain.

This week Disneyland starts the celebration of it's 50th anniversary since it opened in 1955. Thank you Walt Disney for bringing the magic of your wonderful imagination into the hearts of many people all over the world. Thank you for making my childhood a little brighter and a little happier.

I used to call it "Dismoland, the Tragic Kingdom." I live only 10 miles from there, but I guess I got a little jaded by long lines and high price tags.
