I take these things so I don't feel

I tried hard to get a picture of my cast, but it ended up not working and being extremely painful. You can kind of see my puffy fingers.

For those of you that didn't know, I had surgery yesterday on my left arm for carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel. I am in a full arm cast splint and on loratab (good stuff). I am typing this using one hand ... this experience has made some simple things seem so important. Things I will no longer take for granted:
  • Doing my hair.
  • Opening up anything with a twist lid, from soda to jam to pain pills.
  • Tying shut bread.
  • Cutting your food so you can eat it.
  • Tearing open a sauce packet.
  • Putting up a doggy gate.
  • Putting stuff in a shopping bag.
  • Dressing yourself.

I remember when I was in my wrist/thumb brace a couple of years back, I could hardly do anything. I was lucky it was my left, and so are you! :) Imagine if you couldn't use your dominant hand! Hope you have a speedy recovery!

So, did the surgery completely do you in? You still with us? How are you doing?
