This picture features gold medal swimmer Kaitlin Sandeno. Today is the start of the Swimming World Championship Trials in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am such a fan of swimming especially swimmers Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin, Amanda Beard, & Aaron Peirsol (as well as Kaitlin). There is such a beauty to the sport and to the dedication that each athlete puts into preparing themselves for each event and competition that they participate in.
This week I had the opportunity to chat with Kaitlin and in the past I was able to meet Michael. I am amazed at how nice and “normal” they are. They are amazing athletes and yet are extremely considerate and well rounded people. Kaitlin loves the show “Napoleon Dynamite” and spending time with her friends. She has a great sense of humor and loves life - She has even added pink streaks to her beautiful blonde curls for fun. Michael is an average college student who had to learn how to do his laundry and buy groceries for himself. He enjoys playing video games (don’t all boys) and attending football games.
I am so happy that swim season is back in and I wish them all luck this week in Indy! Go Team USA!
